Northern Pacific Railway 924

This switching locomotive (Rogers Locomotive Company, 1899), class L-5, was operated by the Saint Paul and Duluth Railroad as #74, then the Northern Pacific Railway, and the Inland Empire Paper Company as #924. It has a 0-6-0 (“Six-coupled”) wheel arrangement, and switched freight and passenger cars throughout its career, primarily in western Washington. Number 924 was retired in 1969 and donated to the Northwest Railway Museum. Between 2015 and 2020, it was restored to operational condition and pulls trains on the museum’s interpretive railway 4-5 weekends per year.
