Santa Trains

Santa Train is a Snoqualmie Valley holiday tradition run by the Museum every year since 1969 – over 50 years! Over the decades this event has evolved and grown right alongside the Museum itself, becoming what it is today.

The Northwest Railway Museum proudly offers two different holiday experiences for families to choose from. Families can purchase tickets for a shorter excursion, Yuletide Express, or a longer excursion, Santa Limited.

Check out the event information below to learn more and decide which event best suits your family’s needs.

Yuletide Express

A round-trip train ride that begins at the Snoqualmie Depot. 40-minute round trip on Fridays, 25-minute round trip on Saturdays.

The ride takes families for a short jaunt up past Snoqualmie Falls for a unique view of the Snoqualmie River Valley only available from the train.

Santa rides aboard the train and visits with every family during the ride while his helper hands out a surprise gift to each child! Upon return to Snoqualmie Depot, everyone receives a peppermint stick as they disembark the train.

Santa Limited

A 2-hour round-trip excursion that begins out of the North Bend Depot.

Families board the train to ride to the Museum’s seasonally decorated Railway History Campus. Families will be dropped off at the RHC for approximately an hour where they will have time to enjoy Museum exhibits, cookies and hot chocolate, seasonal crafts, oodles of seasonal decor, and, of course, meet with Santa inside the restored Chapel Car. When the train returns, families board the train once more for their return ride to North Bend.

All children will receive a present when they visit with Santa. Museum staff will hold the train until all passengers in line have had their chance to visit with him.

Will we have time to visit Santa if we do other activities?

Absolutely! The Museum does not allow the train to leave until everyone in line to visit Santa has had their chance. The NRM recommends families start with the other activities rather than immediately lining up to see Santa first thing. Nobody wants to stand in line for ages and there’s so much to do and see!

If you feel like you need more time at the Train Shed Exhibit Hall, the Museum does allow train ticket-holders to come back on another non-event date and show their tickets for complimentary admission back into the Train Shed.

However, the hot cider and coffee are both dairy-free drink options!

Are masks required?

No.  However, the Northwest Railway Museum recommends masks for anyone who is able to wear one, the NRM wants families to bring home memories, not a cold or something worse.
