Did you know the Northwest Railway Museum has an eBay store? An important rule that non-profit organizations like the Museum must adhere to is to make available to the public any assets they are looking to rehome after they first try to keep the items in Public Trust.
The Museum received a generous donation of a large model railway collection to use as fundraising for the Roundhouse Exhibit Gallery. These models can be found for sale in both the Snoqualmie Depot and Train Shed Exhibit Gallery, at train shows attended by the NRM, and for sale on eBay.
The Museum previously inherited a large model railway collection from its sister organization, the Bellingham Railway Museum (BRM), and has been finding new homes for the remainder of BRM’s education collection through eBay.
The Museum has also been working on de-accessioning duplicate items from its library and unneeded appliances. All funds raised through the sale of these items go toward improved care of the Museum’s permanent collection.
The items listed on the Museum’s eBay store are ever-changing, so follow the store or check back often to see what’s new. If you are planning on visiting the Museum in person, you can arrange for local pick up.
